Oh, hi.

Well, it looks like it's been about 4 1/2 years since I updated ye olde blogge. But believe me, I had shit to do. (Not really). At any rate, given that it's Easter, I thought perhaps today would be the day to resurrect the fucker. So here we are.

I've been thinking about restarting the blog for a long time, actually, but kept finding reasons not to. Today, for example, I postponed actually doing something about it even longer by having an internal crisis about whether to keep this here blog, or switch over to Tumblr. I guess Tumblr's sleeker and sexier and all that, and god knows I am nothing if not sleek and sexy (shut up), but there was an inherent danger in my creating a Tumblr. See, I'm in my 30s now, and any new information that enters my brain necessarily pushes out some established bit of knowledge. So I figured that using Tumblr wasn't really worth losing the ability to tie my shoes without referring to a diagram. I'm sure I'll regret it when the cool kids laugh at me, though.

The bigger question, of course, is why blog again at all? Hasn’t it been a huge relief over the past 4+ years to not have to answer to the public? Have I learned nothing from the bliss of relative anonymity? Aren’t my 183 Facebook friends and 44 Twitter followers both burdensome and validating enough?

No.

For you see, writers must write. And post cat pictures. And, above all else, delude themselves into thinking they are, actually, Writers. Besides, although I do recall that this shit was time-consuming, it was also fun.

Let's get up to speed, then. What's changed since 2006? Well, I finally, unbelievably, got my degree. I had a long and messy breakup with gluten, which was heartbreaking and continues to fill me with resentment. I moved 6 times. (Really.) I also attempted to go to law school twice, which was HILARIOUS. I'll tell you about it sometime. Or I won't.

Mostly, though, things have stayed the same: I still live between Philly and Wilmington; I still work in super-secret covert government operations; Radley is still fatting around; and Judge Judy remains my moral compass on the stormy seas of life. I am also still trying to tap back into my creativity, and is blogging not the gateway drug to literary prolificacy? Clearly it is, since I would have never used "prolificacy" today if I hadn't written this.

Okay, here we go again. See you in 2015.
